Adopt a Picket for the Coeur d'Alene Library "Between Fences" Exhibit

Picket Fence

From November 7 to December 20 the library will host "Between Fences," a traveling Smithsonian exhibit that looks at the history of fences and property ownership in the United States.

Here's a chance to have a little bit of creative family fun!  The Coeur d'Alene Public Library is inviting patron families to participate in an art display by adopting a picket to decorate on the theme of "This is Our Home."  The decorated pickets will be used to create a fence to be on display in the children's library while the exhibit is in Coeur d'Alene.

The unfinished pickets can be picked up at the Seagraves Children's Library on the library's parkside level at 702 E. Front.  Decorated pickets should be returned to the library by October 31.

Other activities related to the Smithsonian exhibit's visit include a panel discussion, "Both Sides of the Fence - Balancing Land Use Issues," on December 3. There will also be photographic exhibit by local youths, and a multi-media presentation on November 20

Morning Janna,

Your local Library personnel or overseers are very creative. Sounds like a fun way to bring folks together and support the exhibit and library at the same time.

Good localism post!
