Optimism

Ronald Reagan’s advisers recall that he frequently told this story:

A man had two sons.  One was a pessimist, and the other was an optimist. The father placed the pessimist in a room full of new toys. He placed the optimist in a room with a pile of manure. When he returned, the pessimist was crying and throwing a fit, complaining about the toys he had to play with.  In the other room, he found the optimist digging  through the pile of manure. When the father asked the optimist why he was doing that, the boy replied: “I know there’s a pony in here somewhere!”

I’m going to keep digging until I find the pony!

Isn't it wonderful to be looking for the bright things in life.  Some people are naturally positive and tend to have a good outlook on life; even when you're given a pile of manure!

That's a great story, and a great outlook on life. I consider myself an optimist, but I'm not so sure I'd play in the pile of manure... ~A:)

That's a great little story.  When I was a kid, having a horse was #1 on my wish list.  I never got the horse.  But, the good news is, I have learned that if you obtain one, there's a lot of manure that needs to be shoveled :-)

Janna, I don't think I've heard this one before, but it is a great vignette.  I'll have to share this one with some people I know.  You can always count on Ronald Reagan for some good stories and quotes.
